Is YouTube worth your effort?

I’ve generally ignored YouTube and I’m sure YouTube has been just fine with that. But I recently did some research looking for a lawn tractor and my searching led me to a YouTube channel that changed my mind. To say the least I was impressed with the marketing opportunity this represents and also the professional way these guys are using it.

The channel is: Messick’s and when you get a chance take a look. If you are not interested in a tractor it might not be too exciting. So ignore the tractors and think about how you could do this in the garden center. Obviously you need someone who is comfortable on camera and at least semi-professional video and sound. But I think the possibilities are boundless.

I was so impressed I wanted to buy a tractor from these guys and if they were only 2,000 miles closer I would. Tractors and parts are not exactly the kind of merchandise you see using good marketing, but these guys are.

The actual sales pitch is a line at the end where Neal says “if you need parts or we can help you out, give us a call”. Very low key because he is building relationships, not sales. Instead of offering his customers a ‘deal’ he is helping them learn and be successful. And isn’t that what helping your customers is all about?
